Lesson 1: Voical warm-up and poetry
Lesson 1: Wailing sirens
Concepts: Learn how to safely warm up your voice
Preparation:
Must be able to play sample sounds for learners
Have tons of energy!
Introduction:
It is currently night time and all the animals are saying good night to their mothers.
Exercise 1:
We will now warm up our voices by learning how animals say good night to their mothers. For the first warm-up we are going to hoot like an owl:
How-How. How-How! (“O” Sound”)
When the sheep hear the owls they all run to their mothers and start to bleat. For the second warm-up we are going to bleat like a sheep:
Mee-Mee. Mee-Mee! ("e" Sound)
Far away in a town, a fire has started! The fire truck is rushing towards the fire, it's sirens wailing:
(Go from LOW to HIGH!) “Mee-Moo”
Exercise 2:
Now we are going to get our tongues twisted with a couple of rhymes.
Two tiny tigers take two taxis to town.
Seven slick slimey snakes slowly sliding southward
Repeat the tongue twisters until everyone can repeat it flawlessly.
Exercise 3:
As all the children go to sleep, their mothers tell them some poems to put them to sleep:
The coolness of the night
refreshes my skin.
The stars shine so bright,
causing me to grin.
Exercise 4:
Oh no, the fire in town is still burning! We will listen to a song that will teach us what to do when we see a fire. Teacher will show the learners the video so they can learn the words to the call and answer song.
