Lesson 4: Thunder strikes!

Concepts: This lesson teaches learners how to sing in canon and review call-and-response songs.

Preparation:

• You need large empty bins or buckets

• You need sticks to hit with

• If you don't have buckets available, use a table or body percussion

Introduction:

Suddenly there is a loud bang outside.

BOOM!!!

It's thunder! Today we are going to imitate thunder by playing on drums.

Exercise 1:

Let's play a nice rhythm. Hit your drum on a 4 time rhythm. If you need help see our video.

Exercise 2:

Now that we've hit the top of the drums in 4 time, we're going to hit the top for 2 counts and hit the sides of the drums for 2 counts.
