Lesson 3: Vocal warm-up
Lesson 3: Speedy tongues!
Concepts: Practicing safe vocal warm-ups
Introduction:
Today we are going to walk along the sea, but while we are walking, we see a sea monster! The first tongue twister goes like this:
Exercise 1:
Today we are going for a walk on the beach, but along the way, we see a seamonster!
Say the following rhyme out loud:
Some Sundays seamonsters swim at shallow shores.
Slowly repeat the tongue twister untill everyone can recite it fluently
Exercise 2:
Luckily, the monsters are extremely afraid of snakes. We will have to imitate snake sounds to scare them away! Let the children repeat exercise one, but draw out each 'S' to sound like a snake.
Exercise 3:
After this we wanted to get some cupcakes from the local bakery, but they were sold out. Luckily, ...
Cooks cook cupcakes quickly.
Repeat until it is fluent and make sure the children understand what they are saying.
Exercise 4:
Now we will try to do the hardest tongue twister there is:
Pad kid poured curd pulled cod.
This is a hard one, so try to just have fun with it.
Exercise 5:
We will now try to sing a song all together, since our voices are properly warmed up.
The catch is, the entire song is in Zulu! It is, however, a call and answer song.
